As someone who is new to the college scenery and hated
working in groups or presenting at that, I can say that this project definitely
changed my point of view on the way that I look at group projects as well as presenting.
I feel as though my group, and all the other groups presenting were able to
come together and create something to be proud of . Working in groups allows us
to get to know one another and feel more comfortable in class. Although I
always get nervous and my hands tremble as I speak in front of everyone in the
classroom, I try my best to just breathe through it and see it as if I was just
speaking to my classmates like normal.
Group 1 had a presentation based on Chapter 3,
which was about Intercultural Communications. Intercultural Communications is a
topic based on the capacity to communicate with people from diverse cultures.
Now this topic could be a pretty hefty topic to speak on because of how
diverse it could be but Group 1 did a great job in including all of the
important ideas as well as information, either directly from the chapter or from
reliable online sources. I have to give a round of applause to Group 1. They
were the first group to present and had their work done on time. Although a few
people were missing from their presentation they still did a great job. Their presentation
was on point and very useful. You could tell that many of the team members were
nervous giving the fact that it was our first time physically in the class and
also their first time even seeing their team members in person but nonetheless
they did an amazing job. They were really able to light up the room with the
information on their topic once they got comfortable. Overall you could say Group
1 was the opening act for us and they set the bar high for the next groups.
They did a great job in their presentation and I look forward to seeing this
Group again in further presentations and projects we have within this semester.
Group 2 had a presentation based on Communicating in Groups which
is pretty ironic giving the fact that they had to come together and work in
groups in order to get their final result, that being their project. Something
I noticed since they first started presenting their presentation is how cohesive
everything was. You weren’t even able to tell that multiple people worked on it,
it seemed as though it was just one person that completed the entire project.
This gave me a sign that this group had great communication skills during the
entire time it took them to complete the project. They brought up great
information in their presentation as well as new information to me and what
could be to other people in our classroom. They had great presenters but one
truly stuck out to me. I believe his name is Joseph but I could be completely
wrong. He projected his voice to the classroom as if he were a business man trying
to sell a product to a company. His performance up on the podium was amazing,
he had no flashcards nor did he even read off his slides. All the information
that was given to us by him was solely from him and the knowledge he acquired
from his chapter as well as his presentation. Although he even told the class
that he didn’t feel so great and you could tell in his hands that he was nervous,
his voice truly speaks for itself. He did an amazing job regardless of the little
bumps in the road he had to overcome. Group 2 did an outstanding job presenting
this chapter to us. I feel like I was presented all of the key components in an
easy way to understand. All of the pictures on their presentation also helped
to understand better. Overall, they did a great job in every aspect possible.
Now for the Group that I had the pleasure to work with in this
project and will continue to have the pleasure to work in for future projects,
Group 3. Our group had to present Chapter 10 which was based on Group
Leadership and Problem Solving. Something I wasn’t able to do for the other groups
I spoke about was providing a behind the scenes and what it was like to bring
the project together. Since the moment we knew about our presentation we got to
it. We created a Whatsapp groupchat that allowed all of us to be able to
communicate with each other. After that we separated the subtopics and had about
1 to 3 people working on each subtopic. From then on everyone did their part
when they had the chance to. We had great group leaders that were always so
helpful in anything you needed. In order to gain access to the Power point , I
needed for them to resend it to my email about 3 to 4 for times for it to
finally work and not once did I ever feel like I was bothering them. They made
sure I received the email and was able to type in the power point as well as
edit anything. I am very thankful for the team members I have, they are very
hardworking and persistent. They get the job done and make sure any important
message is always said in the group chat. Now for the presentation portion of our
project I feel like we did great. We did a great job on time management giving
the fact that our group is the biggest group in our class. The information in
our power point was rich in information and details and was very easy for an
outside reader point of view to understand and grasp a concept on our Chapter.
Overall I am more than satisfied with my group as well as our group project,
everyone came together and did their part and did an outstanding job presenting
it.
